EANCOM Processes and supply chains for individual processes

The SCM (Supply Chain Management) faces different requirements. Often, individual processes are exchanged, which may be linked with a skeleton agreement. The real delivery of goods has less complex packaging structures than e.g. with SCM Automotive, but may very well have keys such as Kanban-, charge- or serial numbers.
This exchange in Sales and/or Purchasing refers to processes such as orders, order confirmations, delivery notes, outgoing invoices, goods receipts and incoming invoices.

The exchange of these business processes can be subject to different standards. There is an Organization CG1, a member of the EDIFACT Group, who has defined their standard by the term EANCOM.

CG1/EANCOM ORDERS is the standard for orders or purchase orders.
Every standard has a version, e.g. D96A.

CG1/EANCOM ORDERS D96A is a process, which regulates all information and its use – which means, that this set of rules can be processed by machine.

The reason why we talk about CG1/EANCOM and not about other institutes with standards, is simple: The market share of exchanged EDIFACT business processes amounts to 70% worldwide. Somme of applying companies limit the allowed data structure and data contents (Guideline), but it continues to be the CG1 EANCOM Standard.

Sales receives orders (ORDERS) and sends order confirmations (ORDRSP), the delivery note (DESADV) and the outgoing invoice (INVOIC). The process of receipt equals to a data collection, and the shipment equals to a printout.

In Purchasing, the exchange is reversed. Purchasing receives the sent order (ORDERS) and the order confirmation (ORDRSP), the goods receipt (DESADV) and incoming invoice (INVOIC).
